On March 25, 2021 the European Commission adopted an Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production.

In addition to achievement of the goal of the European Green Deal and its Strategies “From Farm to Fork” and Biodiversity to increase the area under organic production (up to 25% by 2030), the need for security of agricultural production is stressed, as well as further development of sustainability of the sector and rural areas.

On March 3d, 2021 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved “The National Economic Strategy until 2030”, which officially sets the goal of land under organic production (in percent). Main tasks: to achieve at least 3% of lands with organic status in the total area of agricultural lands in Ukraine; to increase exports of organic products to 1 billion US dollars by 2030.

At the discussion platform, together with international and Ukrainian experts we will discuss importance of organic production for farmers, communities and consumers in Ukraine and in the EU.

Participants will get detailed information on the European Green Deal, the From Farm to Fork Strategyand, of course, the new EU Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production.

Questions for discussion:

-How does the development of organic production affect the international image of Ukraine?

-How does the development of organic production affect the environment and climate?

-How does the development of organic farming affect the community where the farm is located?

-How is organic production related to consumer habits and behaviour?

-What conclusions can be drawn from this discussion: for farmers, for communities, for consumers, for the government?
